WIL KINGHAN
WIL KINGHAN is a writer, artist and explorer of the Celtic traditions. He studied Archeology at University College Dublin and Environmental Design at NCAD in the 1980’s before working in advertising and commercial television as an Art Director (Kenny’s Adv; Ark’s Adv), winning awards for various campaigns such as the Guinness “New Order” TV commercials in 1990. He also worked on the feature film ‘Far and Away’ (unaccredited) on title development and has written and developed concepts for many commercial clients (Esat Digifone, Breakthrough Partnership, Ernst & Young) through ‘Power of Seven’ creative consultancy where he was a co-founder and director.

Recently in 2008 he formed a writing partnership, Mythwood Films, with established author John Matthews who has worked on features such as Excalibur (Boorman) and  Arthur for Bruckheimer/Touchstone. Earlier in 2007 they completed their first joint screenplay – ‘Men are Perfect’ –currently under development by Mighty Finn Productions LLC in Los Angeles.

Wil and John have a number of writing projects in development including a new spec script, “Churchill’s Magicians”, under consideration by Jerry Bruckheimer Productions and have had positive feedback on specs from industry notables such as Ridley Scott and John Boorman (The Raid), Billy O’Brien (Churchill's Magicians) and Working Title Pictures (Spycamp). As an artist Wil has extensive training and experience in the field of digital illustration, in 2007 his piece for Shade’s Chldren (Garth Nix) placed runner up in the IFX Digital Art contest. Some of his portfolio can be see at www.imagineFX.com in artists portfolios (keyword: moglugh).

On the literary side Wil is a published poet in Ireland (Where the Hazel Falls. Electric Publications – 2006) and is currently working on writing and illustration projects including: “The Oracle of the Caves” (Watkins) and “The Tarot of the Cathars” (Edisson Sadd). He is currently working on his first novel entitled “Werwolves.”

As a development of his creative training Wil  holds a Diploma and City and Guilds qualifications in Counselling, Hypnotherapy and NLP from the Irish Institute of Counseling and Hypnotherapy in Ireland and has been a team leader in breakthrough creative process courses for clients such as 98FM in Ireland.

He currently lives in Ballymoney, a small seaside town in Co. Wexford, Ireland. Extracurricular activities have included being chased by police helicopters and making bootlegs for Bono!

Wil is a member of the Irish Playwrights and Screenwriters Guild.
